Security roller (shops, home, garage) for normal use

The main parts that make up a security shutter are three and they are distinguished as the guides, the shaft, and the curtain-mesh. The secondary elements are the cover boxes and the accessories that equip a shutter, such as locks, motors, remote controls, and others.

1)Spring Shaft: The shaft with the springs constitutes the “heart” of the security shutter, and their good quality ensures its correct and smooth operation. The spring is housed inside the drum and is what allows for the manual operation of the shutter, generating enough torque to counterbalance the weight of the shutter in every position along its path.

Each shutter, therefore, has its own balancing depending on its weight and dimensions, and thus a different number and type of springs. The same applies to the shaft, which is manufactured according to the width and weight of the curtain.

The springs lift the shutter, not the motor. For this reason, LOWEDOORS has placed great emphasis on the spring component, providing our customers with springs that come with a 3-year written warranty or 35,000 cycles. Regarding the shafts, for security shutters over 4.00m, we install a Φ76 shaft to prevent sagging, and our drums are of a closed type, protected from dust and moisture, providing greater durability for the spring. Finally, another advantage of the closed-type drums is that the transmission is done with straps rather than hooks, and in combination with their external rubber-plastic cover, they do not burden the spring and protect the shutter profile, keeping the paint intact during winding.

2) Roller Guides: The guides vary in both thickness and size and are distinguished between the simple ones, commonly referred to as “P”, and the industrial or security ones, labeled as “W”, which feature rubber and a brush, thus achieving smoother and quieter movement operation.

Guide 2cm, 4cm, 6cm simple, ideal for spaces with low requirements, suitable for lattice shutters and generally for shops where the guides are covered by plasterboard.

Guide 5x7cm, 7cm x7cm, and 11x7cm industrial security type with rubber and brush, suitable for domestic and industrial use. It provides quiet operation and maximum security.

For shutters over 5 meters, an 11cm guide is required for greater security and resistance to wind pressure
.

Custom-made guide with integrated hollow chamber inside the guide, which, with the help of an anchor at the end of the profile, provides greater wind resistance and increased security in case of an attempt to pull the shutter.

New aluminum guide, reinforced 9×5 cm. It has an integrated hollow chamber on its back for stronger grip, providing maximum security. It also offers completely silent operation due to the double brush, which absorbs all vibrations. Suitable for both residential and commercial use. Ideal for openings with limited support space but requiring maximum security.

At the end, the guides are attached to the flags, which have special bases, called brackets, to hold the shaft. The dimensions of the flag vary according to the height of each roller and come in sizes of 33×33, 35×35, 37×37, 40×40, 45×45, 50×50.

At the end of the flag, there are attached stop blades to mechanically stop the roller when operated manually. A roller without attached stop blades is certain to cause an accident at some point.

In cases where we don’t have much space for the rolling of the shutter, LOWEDOORS installs a new safety stop that allows us to have the smallest possible rolling or hanging of the shutter.

3) Roller Curtain. The roller curtain constitutes the main body of the shutter and varies according to the needs for visibility, security, and aesthetic reasons. LOWEDOORS provides various profiles in curtains, covering any customer need. The main distinction of shutters is between closed-type and open-type shutters.

Closed-Type Shutters. Distinguished for their high security index, ideal for spaces where high security is required without necessary visibility. They can also provide thermal and sound insulation by installing shutters with double walls filled with compact polyurethane insulation. Through special perforation processing, closed-type shutters can also provide visibility, lighting, and ventilation. They can be manufactured in various dimensions, even for oversized openings, with proper study by LOWEDOORS.

Closed type Lowe K11
Insulating type Lowe ST double
Insulating type Lowe ST double
Perforated type Lowe D11

Open-Type Shutters. Distinguished for the high visibility they provide when the shutters are lowered, known as lattice shutters. . They are made of galvanized solid iron with a diameter of 8mm and joined together with galvanized plates of 1.5mm thickness. Lattice shutters are handmade and come in 3 sizes: large eye 17×12, medium eye 10×11, and small eye 7×5.

Large eye lowe 17x12
Medium eye lowe 13x09
Small eye lowe 7.7x5

Closed-type shutters slide (one sheet inside the other), and at their end, a plastic polyamide plug is placed, which securely holds the sheets during rolling and reduces the friction between one metal and the other. Our company installs high-quality plastic plugs in shutters that do not break, ensuring smooth rolling without friction and noise.

At the end, the shutters feature a double-wall aluminum bottom skirt with a sealing bubble rubber, ensuring proper fit to the floor.

Casing Covers – Facades

4) Casing Covers – Facades: The casing cover of the shutters is optional and is made of galvanized corrugated sheet metal, painted with electrostatic powder coating in the color of choice. The casing cover is for aesthetic purposes when the roller is installed internally (e.g., behind the beam), but it is necessary when the installation is external and the motor needs protection from weather conditions as well as from unwanted visitors who would have easy access to the roller mechanism in the absence of the casing cover.

Casing cover for 2 sides or also known as “Γ-type box” type casing, consisting of 2 pieces and side covers for complete concealment of the manual operating rod and wires. We use it when there is coverage from above, such as a balcony, for example.

“3-sided cover box,” also known as “P-type box,” consists of 3 pieces and side covers for complete concealment of the manual operation rod and cables It is used when there is space above for protection and coverage of the top side.

Face frame when the roller is installed inside the opening with the rolling inside, without the presence of a lintel. Essentially, the face frame creates the lintel that conceals the roller’s rolling. The face frame is supported by metal bases mounted on the left and right sides.

5) Roller Shutter Security Reinforcement Kit

In our days, we observe a sharp increase in criminal activity. Economic crisis, unemployment, lack of policing, and the challenging pace of our daily lives are some of the causes of this daily trend. Unfortunately, there is a dramatic rise in armed robberies and organized attacks by dangerous gangs. Especially in commercial spaces, there are targeted strikes by criminals armed with the appropriate tools and knowledge. Conventional security systems such as alarms and security guards are not sufficient to protect your space, and even security shutters, mostly old-profile or open-type (mesh profiles), cannot withstand well-planned attacks.

LOWEDOORS , inspired by the current phenomena of our times, proposes either to existing security shutters or to new ones to be installed in the future, some extra security measures to reinforce your shutters.

Guide Cover with Hollow Profiles: The guide rails play a significant role in roller shutters; the stronger and deeper they are, the better grip and tamper-resistant protection they provide. By installing reinforced hollow profiles, we manage to nest the guide rails, prevent tool usage, and embrace the roller curtain to move with maximum stability.

The choice of the hollow guides depends on the width and depth of the guide rail.

Reinforcement of the Bottom Bar For greater stability and better contact of the roller curtain, special 40×40 reinforcement guides with a corner bend are installed on the last slat of the roller, the bottom bar. This way, we reinforce the final slats when the roller is closed and prevent tool usage. For greater security, two reinforcement guides are installed, externally and internally to the bottom bar.

Side Security Locks. Security locks are installed on both manual and electric security shutters. In manual shutters, they serve as the sole locking mechanism, while in electric ones, they act as an additional mechanical means to ensure the security of the shutter.

Self-locking safety apron. At the end of the rollers, even in our company’s motorized shutters, there is the option to install automatic mechanical locks for extra security. Once the roller stops due to its weight, certain anti-vandalism tongues emerge on both sides of the roller, resulting in a truly INVULNERABLE ROLLER.

6) Roll accessories

Manual roller

The manual roller shutter locks with built-in locks on the metal sheet of the shutter. The lock can be single, located in the center with a double pin, or double locks at the two ends of the shutter. Our company uses preferred Italian locks for its manual roller shutters.

There is also the option of selecting a lock with a non-reproducible security key upon special order.

Our company also offers the PREFER bell-lock system, providing enhanced security, as part of it is installed on the roller and the other part is embedded into the ground.

Electric roller

The electric roller shutter requires a motor, a control panel, and remote controls to function properly.

1) Motor

2)Circuit boards

3)Remote control

4) Safety photocells

The motors of the shutters are analyzed in detail in the motor section of the shutters, and accordingly the circuit boards in the automation accessories section along with the remote controls and all the accessories that a motor may have.
